Pontoon has become a 'forgotten area' in Mayo

PONTOON has become a 'forgotten area' and one local councillor wants to see it put back on the map.

Signs in the area, at Healy's Hotel and the former Pontoon Bridge Hotel, are completely covered over with briars and other growth, for instance, Councillor Ger Deere has highlighted.

It is a fantastic area, Councillor Deere told a Castlebar Municipal District meeting.

However, he added: “Pontoon has been forgotten.

"It needs attention.”
