Mayo Under 19 Girls Football League kicking off this week

THE Mayo Under 19 Girls Football League 2023 kicks off this Monday, July 3, with eight teams participating this year.

Manulla will be looking to defend the league and cup double they won last year but they will face stiff competition from the likes of Swinford, Castlebar Town, Ballinrobe Town, Ballina Town and Killala who are all regulars in the Under 19 league year in, year out.

Conn Rangers have rejoined the league having taken a year out in 2022 and Claremorris continue their growth in the ladies game by entering an Under 19s team for the first time.

Two clubs, Westport United and Snugboro United, have stepped out of the Under 19s for 2023 but hopefully the league will see their return in 2024.

The league promises to be as competitive as ever. At the halfway point it will split into top four and bottom four with the top four playing for the Under 19 League title and the bottom four playing for the Division 1 title.

The Under 19 Mayo Cup will also be played, with an open draw in each round.
