Mayo athlete competes in ‘combine’ ahead of College Football Classic
Budweiser, official beer partner of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, has gathered some of Ireland’s top athletes from Gaelic games, rugby, soccer and AFL to take part in the Budweiser Combine, a test of speed, accuracy, kicking and physical prowess.
Among them is multi-talented Mayo native Sarah Rowe, who currenly plays with Bohemian FC in the Women's National League but has also played for the Mayo LGFA senior team and spent the last few years in Australia with the Collingwood AFLW team.
Coached by former college American Football player and kicking coach Tadhg Leader, Sarah is joined by Andrew Conway (Ireland and Munster Rugby) and Dean Rock (Dublin GAA) as they put their speed and kicking skills to the test against NCAA standards.
Sports fans can tune into the Budweiser Combine today (Tuesday, July 4) on LADBible’s social media. Not only that, but over the coming weeks, Budweiser are offering you the chance to win the Best Seats in the House competition through participating pubs to see top college football teams Notre Dame and Navy competing in the Aviva Stadium on August 26 in front of a sell-out crowd.
Budweiser brand manager in Ireland, Colin McGough, commented on the return of college football activity with Budweiser: “There is massive excitement amongst fans of sport in Ireland for this game. Bringing the college football show to Dublin is something Budweiser is delighted to be associated with. A lucky few will join us in the Budweiser’s Best Seats in the House but for everyone else, Dublin’s city centre will be electric on game day with dedicated Budweiser street entertainment and tail-gates.”
Colin added: “We all know how talented Andrew, Dean and Sarah are in their own sports, and the Budweiser Combine was a great test of how they would adapt their skills in their respective sport to compete in college football.”
Fans have the chance to win a pair of tickets by buying a pint of Budweiser, visiting winwithbud.ie, and sharing a picture. There is branded POS in participating pubs with a QR code for easy scanning which will bring entrants to the website to enter. The competition runs from until Sunday, August 13. Entrants must be over 18s, resident in the Republic of Ireland, and available on August 26 for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. Full terms and conditions are available here.
