Lisa Chambers considers run for European Parliament, with one caveat

Fianna Fáil senator Lisa Chamber has announced her consideration to run for the European Parliament today, but her candidacy will depend on the constituency redraws.

Mid-August is when we will learn of the new constituency boundaries and by October Fianna Fáil expect to nominate their candidates for next year's European elections.

The party, which has two seats in the European Parliament, is hoping to make gains in the Midlands-North-West constituency, where it does not have an MEP.

The Ballintubber native narrowly lost her seat in Dáil Eireann in 2020 and has since been a senator for Fianna Fáil in the Seanad.

In January she was selected as leader of the Seanad by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
