Top award for Mayo's Michael Davitt Museum

THE Michael Davitt Museum in Straide has received the Maintenance of Full Accreditation Award at The Heritage Council Museum Standards Programme for Ireland (MSPI) awards ceremony held in Kilkenny Castle.

MSPI promotes professional standards in the care of collections in Irish museums and galleries. Accredited museums can have confidence they know how to look after their collections and understand the needs of their visitors.

The award is a testament to the hard work of the museum's management and staff in caring for collections, museum management, education, exhibition and visitor services.

The Michael Davitt Museum has extended thanks to everyone who has supported them in their journey, including Mayo North East, The Heritage Council and programme coordinator, Lesley-Ann Hayden, for their ongoing advice and support.
