Young Mayo golfer is double Connacht champion

YOUNG Mayo golfer John William Burke is a double Connacht title winner.

The Ballyhaunis Golf Club member has won the Connacht boys open championships at both Under 14 and Under 16 level.

In the older age group he shot a round of 71 points to see off his closest contenders, with five finishing hot on his heels on 72.

Adding this to the Under 14 trophy saw John William complete a historic double on a proud day for him, his family, coaches and home club.

The championships were hosted by Ballinasloe Golf Club.
