Mayo athlete gets Ireland triathlon team call-up

SWINFORD Athletic Club's Pearse Gallagher is the latest club member to be selected on an Irish team.

Pearse has been called up to the Irish junior triathlon team following his win in the Skerries Triathlon last weekend.

He will now compete in the European Junior Triathlon Cup in Dublin next month.

At 16, Pearse will be one of the youngest competitors in the race.

Sister Maeve was also back in action in Skerries following a year out of action with injury. She made a winning return, taking first place in the duathlon.
