Son of Mayo man makes a return to La Liga football

John Joe Patrick Finn Benoa whose father hails from East Mayo has returned to the Getafe starting lineup after a year studying for his third level exams.

The 6"4 central midfielder became the youngest player in the history of the Madrid based club to make a competitive appearance back in 2021.

The stylish footballer had the option of declaring for his native Spain or his mothers nation of Cameroon but instead chose Ireland.

It is believed the return of Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, the man who gave Finn his debut as head coach at La Coleseum in 2021 will be a boost to Finn's career.

The 19 year old started Getafe's pre season friendly vs Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle, the fixture finished 2-1 to Getafe.
