Passing of former Mayo GAA star in Dublin
The death has taken place of Tommy Lyons, Deansgrange, Co. Dublin, and formerly of The Colony, Killeen, Louisburgh.
He died peacefully on July 20 in St. Michael's Hospital, Dún Laoghaire, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Tommy is survived by his wife Peggy, sons Martin, Tommy, Richard and Padraic, daughters Mary, Mairead and Michelle, brothers Myles and Michael, sisters-in-law Maura and May, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family friends, neighbours and all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his son Declan.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the Lyons family on their loss.
Interment takes place today in Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill, Dublin, following Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul..
In a tribute, Castlebar Mitchels said it was with great sadness the club members learned of Tommy's passing.
It stated: "Tommy lived in Castlebar during the early part of his life while working for Telecom Éireann. He played for Castlebar Mitchels, winning a senior county title in 1959. He also had won an All-Ireland Junior title for Mayo in 1957.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
