Women of Mayo are invited to try kayaking and a host of other outdoor adventures during HER Outdoors Week this month.

HER Outdoors Week 2023 celebrates women in the great outdoors throughout Mayo

HER Outdoors Week will run this year from August 14 to 20, promising a week of exciting outdoor activities and adventures for women across the country, encouraging more females to embrace the outdoors and experience the numerous physical and mental benefits it offers.

Building on the success of previous years, Mayo Sports Partnership are thrilled to be part of HER Outdoors Week once again as it launches the highly anticipated 2023 calendar of events. Through valued partnerships, more than 25 events have been organised, providing wonderful opportunities for women of all ages and backgrounds to participate in a range of outdoor activities.

“We are delighted to be hosting HER Outdoors Week again this year. The response to the calendar of events launched last week has been overwhelming,” said Janette Slattery, promotions officer for Mayo Sports Partnership.

“Several events are already fully booked, but there are still open slots for many others. We encourage everyone to download a copy of the Mayo HER Outdoors Calendar of events and join us in the celebrations.”

Adding to the excitement, Mayo Sports Partnership is pleased to announce four new events that have been included in the calendar. These events include 'Come & Try Snorkelling' with Grainne Uaile Sub Aqua, yoga and dip events in Crossmolina and Killala in partnership with Swim Ireland, and an Achill guided hike in partnership with Leave no Trace and Terra Firma.

HER Outdoors Week is not only about celebrating existing outdoor enthusiasts but also about inspiring more women to discover the joy of being in nature and exploring various physical activities. With so many incredible outdoor opportunities available, this week is a wonderful opportunity to embrace the outdoors to the fullest.

“We want to provide more opportunities for all females to escape to the outdoors and try something new,” said Deirdre Donnelly, sports development officer for Mayo Sports Partnership. “Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or just looking for a fun and refreshing activity, HER Outdoors Week has something special for you.”
