Islandeady memorial 5k/10k run/walk is on this weekend

ISLANDEADY Cycling Club is hosting their annual 5k and 10k walk/run on Saturday, August 5, starting at 10 a.m. from Jack's Old Cottage, Islandeady.

This year the monies raised will be donated to the Islandeady Community Council Development Fund and Islandeady GAA in memory of Jessica Needham, formerly of Lismolin, Islandeady.

The run was officially launched by Jessica's parents Pat and Michelle and her sister Grace, with members of Islandeady Cycling Club, Westport AC, Islandeady GAA and Islandeady Community Council also in attendance.

The race is open to everyone to walk, jog or run at their own pace.

It is officially measured and the licence is granted by Athletics Ireland in conjunction with Westport Athletics Club. The race will be chipped-timed.

The race will start at Jack's Old Cottage at 10 a.m. sharp on Saturday, August 5, and ending back there. Parking will be available adjacent to Jack's Cottage.

Participants will be able to collect their race number from Jack's Cottage on Friday evening from 6 to 7.30 p.m. or from 8.30 until 9.30 a.m. on the morning of the race. The race briefing will be at 9.45 a.m.
