All set for Claremorris show this Sunday

IT'S all systems go for the 103rd Claremorris Agricultural Show, which takes place at the Claremorris athletics grounds (Eircode F12KX63) this Sunday, August 6.

Heather Humphreys, Minister for Rural and Community Development, will officially open the show at 1 p.m.

The show once again offers a huge array of features for all ages and interests, with a fashion show with the Mandy Maher Catwalk Agency, cooking with celebrity TV chef Adrian Martin, more than 250 show classes, music and dancing with local singing star David Connor, trade stands, free children's entertainment, the Supermacs young handlers ponies and the ever popular dog show, plus lots more.

The show has once again received tremendous support from sponsors of all levels and are delighted to announce that Corrib Oil are main sponsors again this year.

The show is delighted to host the final of this year's All-Ireland Junior Home Cook Championship, with young people having qualified through a number of regional shows throughout the country during the summer.

Midwest Radio will broadcast live from the show from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Claremorris Community radio will follow with a live broadcast from 1.30 to 4 p.m.

In the past the attendance become accustomed to watching a major GAA match on the big screen. Due to changes in the sporting calendar it is being replaced with something special this year - in association with Keane's Euronics Home & Garden, they will screen a DVD of the 2008 show. This was the year of the 90th show and special guest was James Drury, star of hit western series The Virginian, who spent a number of enjoyable days in the west and discovered some family roots.

ACCESS AND ADMISSION

While there is ample parking close to the show, a free shuttle bus service will operate throughout the day from Claremorris town centre from 11.30 a.m.

Despite rising costs the show committee decided to retain the admission fee at €10 for adults, with cash or card accepted, while Under 16s are free.

Additional information is available on the show website, www.claremorrisshow.com, and its Facebook page will continue to be updated prior to and after the event.

The show email address is claremorrisagshow@yahoo.ie while show secretary Maureen Finnerty can be contacted on (087) 9241450.
