Joint rescue operation after fall on Mweelrea

A MAN who suffered a fall on Mweelrea was airlifted to Mayo University Hospital yesterday (Friday).

Mayo Mountain Rescue and the coastguard's Rescue 118 helicopter responded to the call for assistance at 11.30 a.m.

The casualty was located by Rescue 118, who were on scene when the mountain rescue first responder arrived. He was treated by the R118 medic, and the MMRT responder assisted with the high-line as the casualty was winched aboard the helicopter for transport to Mayo University Hospital.
