Young Mayo golfer wins triple titles

LAUREN Brady of Westport Golf Club is the 2023 Connacht Under 16 Girls’ Open champion.

Aged only 12, Lauren also captured the Best Under 14 (Bentley Plate) and Best Under 12 (Leonard Dodd Shield) titles at the Connacht championship, hosted by Castlebar Golf Club.

Lauren had a winning score of 47 points in the Under 16 championship, with clubmate Grace Donovan third on 43. Another Mayo golfer, Catherine Humphreys from Ballinrobe, filled third spot on 38 points, with Charlie Browne, Westport, fifth on 37.

The Under 14 Bentley Plate saw the same top three placings, with Charlie Browne fourth on this occasion.

Catherine Humphreys was second to Brady in the Under 12 division.
