O'Dwyer Foundation to invest €4 million in Mayo Cheshire Home facility

THE O'Dwyer Foundation is to invest €4 million in the Cheshire Home facility in Bohola.

It will be used by Western Care service users in the future, with the Cheshire Home charity also continuing to have a presence there.

The news was announced by Rory O'Dwyer of the O’Dwyer Foundation at the Bohola Post 50 years commemorative edition launch on Saturday evening.

The Western Care is already located in another local O'Dwyer family facility - the former Lismirrane National School, which the Foundation purchased a number of years ago when it came up for sale after closure.

They are now in talks with Western Care and Cheshire Home, with the Foundation to invest €4 million over the next few years to upgrade the home.

Western Care will be taking over a major portion of it, he explained, with Cheshire also staying on-site.

Mr. O'Dwyer said when his father set up his charity in the early '70s one of his criteria was to do something for his native Lismirrane and Bohola, to create employment so people would not have to emigrate as he had. From that the Cheshire Home had come about.
