Mayo Women's Football League Rumley and Walsh Cup finals places decided

THE Rumley League Cup final will be contested by Manulla and Kiltimagh Knock United on Sunday, September 3, at Solar 21 Park at 2.30 p.m.

The Mary Walsh Cup will take centre stage in a double header before that at the Milebush venue, with an all north Mayo tie featuring Kilmore and Killala at 11.30 a.m.

Last Friday evening's semi-finals were played in blustery conditions, with Manulla seeing off the challenge of Castlebar Town 3-1 and Kiltimagh Knock overcoming Conn Rangers 4-1.

Kilmore had booked their final spot earlier in the week, when 2-1 winners over Straide & Foxford, and were joined by Killala in the Walsh Cup final after they defeated Ballinrobe Town 3-0.

Ashleagh Salmon had her first goal for the KK senior team on her debut at this level on 13 minutes. The reply from Conn came swiftly in a good tussle of a cup match when the home side equalised from a very well struck Aine McLean free kick.

Honours even at the break, KK had a dream start to the second half when Rosie McDonnell reacted quickly to score in the first minute. Ellen Boyle extended the lead just before the hour, with Hana Ueno getting on the end of an Anna McDonnell corner for KK's fourth goal in the 75th minute.

Niamh Flannery had the only goal of the first half in Manulla's joust with Castlebar Town. Tracey Hall doubled the lead midway through the second with a strike from the halfway line before Town pulled one back through Louise Dowling in this competitive tie with 15 minutes remaining.

Lauren McLellan made the game safe from the penalty spot as Manulla progressed to their second Rumley Cup final in a row.

In Killala, a hat-trick from Alva Munnelly saw them comfortably past Ballinrobe Town in a fantastic team effort.

In the early week decider, it took extra time to separate Kilmore and Straide & Foxford. The game ended 1-1, with S&F opening the scoring through Siobhan Wilson. Michelle Lynch equalised for the Erris side on 71 minutes and had the winner in extra time.

Attention next Friday reverts to the league. Fixtures (all 7 p.m. unless stated) are: Manulla v Castlebar Town, Swinford v Kiltimagh Knock, Killala v Crossmolina, Kilmore v Ballinrobe (7.15 p.m.).

UNDER 19 LEAGUE

Swinford are sitting top of the Under 19 Women's League with a full complement of 18 points after six games, with Ballinrobe Town currently in second spot on 11 points.
