One Mayo player on Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football Team of the Year
Electric Ireland has revealed the 15 standout performers from the 2023 GAA minor football season with the announcement of the 2023 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year and the Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year.
Connacht champions Mayo have one player on the team, with Garrymore's Eoin McGreal named in the left corner-back slot.
The selection is dominated by champions Derry and beaten finalists Monaghan, who ended Mayo's run at the All-Ireland quarterfinal stage.
For Derry it was a second minor title in just four years. They put in a very impressive performance in the final, beaten Monaghan on a 1-13 to 0-9 scoreline.
Between them, Derry and Monaghan have 11 representatives across the squad (six Derry and five Monaghan), with two Kerry inclusions and one each for Mayo and Dublin.
Electric Ireland has also announced this year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year – Derry’s Johnny McGuckian. McGuckian has been a standout player for Derry over the past two seasons, securing vital scores for the team throughout their campaign.
The 2023 Electric Ireland Football Minor Star Team of the Year in full is as follows: Jamie Mooney (Monaghan and Cremartin Shamrocks); Jack Lynch (Monaghan and Monaghan Harps), Fionn McEldowney (Derry and Slaughtneil), Eoin McGreal (Mayo and Garrymore); Cahir Spiers (Derry and Magherafelt), James Sargent (Derry and Lavey), Ryan Mitchell (Dublin and Erin's Isle); Ben Murphy (Kerry and Austin Stacks), Tommy Rogers (Derry and Kilrea); Seán Óg McElwain (Monaghan and Scotstown), Tommy Mallen (Monaghan and Scotstown), Johnny McGuckian (Derry and Watty Grahams Glen); Conall Higgins (Derry and Magherafelt), Matthew Finn (Monaghan and Emyvale), Paddy Lane (Kerry and Austin Stacks).
