Death of member of Mayo business family is deeply regretted

The death of Paddy Monaghan, Knockaunakill, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss and sorrow in the community at large.

A member of the successful business family behind Monaghan Bros. Hospitality Furniture manufacturers, Mayo Abbey, he died suddenly while on holidays in Hong Kong.

Predeceased by his father William, Paddy is deeply regretted by his partner Tatiana Kormisina, mother Florine, sister Caroline Walsh, brothers John, Peter, Michael, Richard, Philip and William, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, friends and neighbours, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Paying tribute to the deceased, Councillor Cyril Burke described Paddy as a gentleman whose affable and good-natured personality endeared him to so many people.

"He played a key role in a widely-respected family business which has carried out work as far afield as Australia and the United States due to the high standard and sterling reputation of their products.

"Paddy will be sadly missed by everybody who knew him and I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his partner Tatiana, mother Florine, sister Caroline, brothers John, Peter, Michael, Richard, Philip and William on their immeasurable loss."

Councillor Damien Ryan also joined in extending sympathy to the extended Monaghan family on Paddy's death.

Warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on the condolences pages of the death notices website, RIP.ie.

"Paddy was a gentleman, he always had that smile which we will see no more," one stated.

Another tribute said: "He was always great to have a chat with at the vintage shows."

His remains will be reposing at Balla Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 8 o'clock to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Gerald, Mayo Abbey.

Requiem Mass takes place on Monday at 11 o'clock with burial afterwards in Lisloughrey Cemetery, Cong.
