Death of 'an absolute lady' who worked in busy Mayo shop

The death has occurred of Peggy Kelly (née McGowan), Fr. Angelus Park, Westport, and formerly of Aughaward, Straide.

The deceased was an employee of Gavin's convenience store, The Mall, Castlebar, for many years.

In a tribute, the Rodgers family, proprietors, stated: "Peggy was an incredible staff member who worked in our store for many years.

"She was highly respected by all her colleagues and the wider community at large. She will be sorely missed by all."

Many other lovely tributes are being paid to Peggy on social media, where she was described as "an absolute lady."

Peggy is deeply regretted by her husband Brian, daughters Catherine and Laura, son David, grandchildren Holly, Ruairí and Sophia, son-in-law Martin Willis and Michael Patton, David's partner Maria Martinez, sister Maureen (Croy), brothers-in-law Michael Lavelle, Jimmy Mooney (Aughaward), Chris, Vincent, John and Paul Kelly, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

She was predeceased by her parents James and Kate McGowan, sisters Kathleen and Josie (Aughaward, Straide).

Her remains will be Reposing at McGing's Funeral Home, Westport, this evening (Sunday) from 5:30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to St. Mary's Church, Westport.

Requiem Mass takes place on Monday at 11 a.m. with interment afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
