Mayo GAA confirm key managerial appointments

by John Melvin

Mayo GAA has confirmed the appointment of former senior star Peadar Gardiner as the county's new Under-20 team manager.

The appointment was ratified at a meeting of the county board at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in Castlebar.

Gardiner will succeed Maurice Sheridan in the position.

Included in Gardiner's 'All-Star' backroom team are former Mayo senior manager James Horan along with Ciaran McDonald, Keith Higgins and Ger Cafferkey.

Kilmeena's Mark Ryan is also part of Gardiner's support team.

The vacant position of Mayo minor team manager has also been filled.

Two other former senior players Tom O'Reilly and David Heaney take over the position in a joint capacity.

They will be joined by Ciaran McDonald as head coach along with Pat Clarke, Bohola Moy Davitts, and Brian Kilkelly, Westport, as selectors.

The future development of Mayo GAA's elite talents appears to be in very capable hands.
