Nine Mayo producers shortlisted for prestigious awards

Blas na hÉireann, the Irish Food Awards, have announced the finalists for 2023 with nine Mayo producers shortlisted.

Sponsored by the Local Enterprise Office Mayo, they are Achill Island Sea Salt, Black Book Foods, Carr and Sons, Jack & Eddie's, Mescan Brewery, Moylurg Honey, O'Hara's Bakery, Village Farm and Western Brand Chicken.

The three-day event will take place from Thursday to Saturday, September 28 to 30.

Now in its 16th year, Blas na hÉireann saw its highest entries from across all categories along with many new producers entering the awards for the first time this year.

During the judging, which took place over June and July, over 3,000 entries were judged, the highest on record.

“We wish all of the Mayo finalists in this year’s Blas na hÉireann awards the very best of luck,” said John Magee, head of enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Mayo.

“The awards showcase the wide variety of high-quality food and drink products made right here in Mayo and we are proud to support them.”
