Mayo food festival donates €6,300 to local cancer charity

Cong Food Village Festival, which took place in July, has raised €6,300 for Cancer Fund for Children.

The funds were collected through voluntary donations at the gates and events such as Cong Duck Derby, organised by Sinead and Gary Collins, and Bring Home a Sheep, organised by Paddy Rock.

Cong Food Village Committee believe that charity begins at home and members are very proud to work with their chosen charity, Cancer Fund for Children.

The funds raised will go directly to the providing of Cancer Care Services in the Republic of Ireland and the construction of a new Daisy Lodge, therapeutic short break centre being built in in Cong for children with cancer and their families.

"We to say a big thank you to our sponsors and volunteers, without your support it would not have been possible to raise the much-needed funds," said the committee spokesperson.
