Mayo island's masterplan set to be unveiled

Inishturk, a stunning island off the west coast of Mayo, is at at turning point in its history.

Challenges such as housing shortages, sustainable employment opportunities, and a lack of public facilities have prompted a community-driven initiative, the Inishturk 2050 Vision, aimed at charting a prosperous course for the island's future.

The islanders are at Stage Two of their visionary journey, named 'Visualising Futures.' This stage invites all community members, as well as interested individuals beyond the island's shores to participate in shaping Inishturk's future.

There are two ways to get involved: in person at the Inishturk Community Club on September 15 at 8 p.m., or online via Zoom on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.

The insights and ideas gathered from these meetings will form the foundation of the Inishturk 2050 consultation report.

This report serves to raise awareness of Inishturk's ambitious vision for 2050, help to support capital funding applications, and unlock additional funding opportunities for the Inishturk 2050 Masterplan.

This visionary project is a collaborative effort between the Inishturk Community Club CLG and ACT Studio Ballina, supported by funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund through the Scaling Social Enterprise Scheme.
