Unique double for captains at Mayo football club

Two Straide & Foxford United players have created a unique piece of sporting history.

A mother and son have both lifted silverware for the club this season.

Stephanie Loughney was presented with the Mayo Women's Football League Division One trophy on Friday evening after captaining her team to their first ever title.

Beside her was son Jamie who, as captain, lifted the Under-13 Premier League trophy for S&F earlier this year.

Stephanie has been a driving force behind the S&F women's team who were re-formed last year and really kicked on as the season progressed to earn their silverware.

Well done to Stephanie and Jamie on their special achievement in what is turning out to be a memorable year for their family and club.
