Official opening of newest section of Mayo greenway

THE official opening of the newest section of the Great Western Greenway, from Achill Sound to Cashel, takes place this Friday.

The Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Jack Chambers, will be on hand to perform the opening. The event is hosted by Mayo County Council.

The five-kilometre extension from Achill Sound to Cashel has been a welcome boost for visitors and locals using the greenway.

Minister Chambers will perform the opening at the trail head/car park at Achill Sound at 11 a.m. on Friday.
