Death of member of widely respected east Mayo family

The death has occurred of Aidan Horkan, Sarsfield Manor and formerly of Airport Road, Charlestown.

A member of a widely known and respected local family, he died suddenly yesterday at his home.

The news has evoked a huge sense of loss in the community at large, such was the high esteem in which he was held.

Predeceased by his mother Dolores, sister Colette and his brother Garda Detective Garda Colm, he is sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken father Marty, son Orán, sister Deirdre, brothers Brendan, Dermot and Padraig, Oran’s mother Fionnula, aunts Kitty Walsh (Charlestown), Colette Brennan (USA) and Vera Hora (USA), sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their great loss.

The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
