Silverware for Kilmore on first season back in Mayo Women's Football League

KILMORE marked their return to the Mayo Women's Football League in style, collecting the silverware in the Mary Walsh Cup final at Solar 21 Park on Sunday.

The Erris side held a 1-0 lead at half-time from a beautifully struck free-kick from Annie Lynskey. Killala weren't lacking in the creativity department either, hitting the woodwork three times in the first half.

An ever present threat, Liadh McGrath slotted home calmly from a Lynskey pass for Kilmore before Lynskey hit another wonderful free-kick to secure the title.

Killala were left to rue what could have been, hitting the woodwork twice again and thwarted by an excellent save from the Kilmore 'keeper in one heart-stopping sequence.

The Player of the Match award deservedly went to Annie Lynskey.

Final score: Kilmore 3-0 Killala
