Women’s Health Clinic is opening in east Mayo town

Dr. Carol Duffy, GP, opens the doors to a new clinic, Women's Health West, on Monday, September 18, offering a private gynaecological GP service.

A native of Ballina, she now enjoys life with her family in Foxford.

Women's Health West is conveniently located in Foxford on the Ballina Road and aims to provide quality care to women of all ages, both in the Mayo area and beyond.

Dr. Duffy is committed to offering a service that dedicates the necessary time and attention to a woman’s gynaecological health.

Services provided will include; contraception care, menopause care, cervical screening, sexual health screening, breast care and review of general gynaecological complaints such as menstrual problems, pelvic pain, PCOS, vulvovaginal problems, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, postnatal complaints and subfertility.

The clinic plans to offer both in-person and remote video consultations.

Dr. Duffy is an experienced GP, passionate about empowering women and providing holistic, evidence-based care.

She graduated with honours from the University of Galway in 2006 and was awarded membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) in 2013.

She also holds postgraduate qualifications in Community Gynaecology and Contraception with the ICGP and is a member of the British Menopause Society.

Speaking about this exciting new venture, Dr. Duffy said: "Having worked in Galway and Sligo for many years I am delighted to settle back home in Mayo.

"The area of women’s health has always been an area of special interest to me. As both a GP and a mum to four girls, I feel very strongly that women should be given more time and attention during a consult.

"Many women struggle with female health issues, in particular the menopause transition.

"I hope to educate, empower and care for women and help them shed any insecurities or feelings of embarrassment around their gynaecological health and to restore their joie de vivre."
