Appeal lodged over decision to reject east Mayo biogas facility

THE decision to refuse planning permission for a biogas facility in east Mayo is being appealed.

Moy Valley Biogas has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála after Mayo County Council rejected its proposals for the plant at a site near Swinford.

More than 430 objections were lodged with council planners.

The local Swinford Biogas Concern Group is holding a public meeting to discuss the appeal. The meeting will take place in the Gateway Hotel this Sunday, September 17, at 7 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.

Mayo County Council has twice rejected the proposal, on lands at Lislackagh/Carrowbaun, on the outskirts of Swinford, citing issues with the road infrastructure and possible environmental impact.
