Croagh Patrick summit sign needs upgrading

THE sign on the summit of Croagh Patrick is being destroyed by 'graffiti'.

Seen in photos shared by people all over the world, it needs to be cleaned up or replaced, says Councillor Ger Deere.

He raised the matter at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council on Monday, having recently climbed the mountain.

A 'fantastic' job is being done on the pathway, he said, however the iconic sign on the summit is destroyed by graffiti.

Perhaps there should be a sign at the bottom of the mountain banning graffiti, Councillor Deere suggested.
