Wednesday weather update for Mayo

The rain is set to return tomorrow as Met Eireann predict a wet day for the county.

Take a look below at what the weather has in store for the county.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Expect a dry start to the day with any lingering mist and fog patches rapidly dissipating. However, clouds will steadily increase throughout the morning, with a shift in weather conditions possible.

Later in the morning, western areas of the province will witness the onset of rain showers.

These showers will progressively advance eastward, blanketing the region with rainfall during the afternoon hours.

As the day unfolds, expect the breezy conditions to intensify, with southerly winds picking up and becoming fresh and gusty. Coastal areas, in particular, should brace for strong winds in the afternoon.

Temperature-wise, the day will remain relatively cool, with the mercury climbing to highs between 14 to 16 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, the national weather outlook appears to be characterized by changeable conditions, with a degree of uncertainty surrounding the forecast for rainfall.

Come Wednesday night, the rain showers that swept across the region during the day will retreat, becoming confined to the eastern and southern parts of the country.

Meanwhile, other regions can anticipate drier and clearer weather to prevail.

The night will be noticeably milder compared to previous ones, with low temperatures ranging from 10 to 14 degrees Celsius.

A fresh south-west wind will be in play, gradually shifting to a westerly direction.
