Over ninety feral cats rounded up at Mayo housing estate
NINETY plus feral cats were captured by the NWSPCA at a housing estate in Swinford.
Rounding up the cats wasn't an issue for the animal charity but they need financial support with their neutering programme.
The operation was highlighted by local Councillor Adrian Forkan during a council debate on the need for an animal welfare officer in the county.
The cats, which had been roaming through a local council estate, were captured and neutered, with some returned and others rehomed.
Some volunteers were on the ground from 6 in the evening until midnight, he said.
The charity, he continued, needed support with funding neutering, and it was something he suggested the council could look at, possibly through the council vet, especially in an estate that is a local authority one.
