Status Orange rain alert issued for Mayo

A Status Orange rain warning has been issued for Mayo.

The alert has been upgraded by Met. Éireann from a previously-issued yellow warning.

It is in effect from 1 until 5 p.m. today due to intense rainfall expected over a relatively short period of time.

The potential impacts include flooding, poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions.

The Road Safety Authority has urged motorists to drive with great care in these conditions.
