Passing of much-loved Castlebar personality Marie Guthrie
The death has occurred of Marie Guthrie (née Bennett), Fr. Meehan Place, and formerly of McHale Road Castlebar.
A member of a old and respected local family, she died peacefully yesterday in the wonderful care of the staff of Mayo University Hospital.
The deceased was widely-known and respected in the community at large.
Many lovely tribute are being paid to her on social media where she was described as 'a lovely lady' and 'a kind neighbour'.
She is deeply regretted by her sons Kieran (London), Barry (Celbridge) and Cory (London) daughters Pamela O'Donnell (Kilmeena), and Sandra Hughes (Castlebar), brother Michael, sisters Breege and Phil, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
She was predeceased by her husband Mickey, brothers Paddy Joe and David and sister Ann.
Marie's remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. with removal to her daughter Sandra's home in Rathbawn Avenue, via Fr. Meehan Place.
Removal from her daughter's home on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. to The Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m..
Interment takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
