Call for entries from Mayo and across Ireland for 2023 Credit Union Art Competition

The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) has announced the launch of the 2023 Credit Union Art Competition.

The competition, now in its 40th year, is one of the most prominent and longest-running of its type across Ireland.

The theme for this year’s competition focuses on ‘My Community & Me’, and asks participants to consider their local community and their own individual place within it. For example, what makes your community different? Is it the people within it and/or is it the beauty you see every day Further information on the competition is available here.

There are two overall categories – General Category & Additional Needs Category – with the following age groups in each category (age limit applying as at December 31, 2023): 7 years and under; 8-10 years inclusive; 11-13 years inclusive; 14-17 years inclusive; and 18 years and over (adult).

Commenting on the launch of the 2023 competition, ILCU president Martin Busch said: “I am delighted to launch this year's art competition. Engaging several hundred thousand children every year, the longevity of the competition is a testament to its popularity, the creativity of the participants and support of credit unions across Ireland.

“This year’s theme is important as it is reflective of the core values that underpin the credit union movement in that a community is not just a group of people but rather a collective that works together and considers the needs of all. We are looking forward to seeing this theme brought to life across all age categories and localities in this year’s competition.”

Note: Entries for the Credit Union Art Competition are made via local participating credit unions. It must be noted that not all credit unions take part in this competition.
