Route selection on Balla active travel scheme continuing

THE route selection on the N60 Heathlawn - Balla active travel project is due to be completed early next year.

The scheme is currently at options selection stage, with a public consultation event having taken place earlier this year.

It is likely there will be further consulation, Councillor Cyril Burke was told at a roads committee meeting this week.

Councillor Burke told roads management he hopes something is done in relation to the Ardboley junction as part of the plan.

On the actual roads project at Heathlawn, the councillor paid tribute to the contractors who are doing a super job and keeping delays to a minimum, he said.

He was told construction works are ongoing, with a completion date of August 2024.

One kilometre at the eastern end of the scheme is completed and open to traffic. A further length should open next month and there is hope that the scheme could be finished before August.

Also on the N60 at Manulla, an options selection report is being finalised and the scheme will now proceed to design and environmental evaluation.
