The Cheque’s in the Post coming to Mayo stage

CLANN Machua drama group will stage a three-act play, The Cheque’s in the Post, in their local Kiltimagh Town Hall Theatre on October 12 and 13, with curtain up at 8 p.m. each night.

A hilariously funny play, written by Alice Lynch, it tells the story of two sisters, Maggie and Mary, who run their small farm in the 1970s without any help - as far as anyone knows.

In an old house up a long lane of potholes and empty whiskey bottles, with a banshee who frequents regularly and a neighbour who has his eye on the land, they live unharmoniously until Mary realises her disadvantage cheque hasn't arrived. Things can only get worse!

The cast is Mary - Ann Forde, Maggie - Elaine Regan, Bartley - Austin Finn, Dermot (postman) - Conor Durkan, Sergeant - Seamus Corry, Vet - Keith Flanagan, Postmaster - Henry Kelly, Henry Mitchell - Lorcan Kitching, Miheal - Jarlath Malone, and Mrs. Buckley - Mairead Carney.

The play is directed by Sean Langan and Fiona Campbell and brings many new faces to the stage.

Tickets are €15, available from Langan’s Off-Licence or on the door.
