Mayo versus New York game fixed for first week in April

Mayo players, supporters and the diaspora can finally mark their calendar as the green and red contingent look set to make the trip state side for their Connaught championship clash with New York on the weekend of April 6/7.

A bucket list trip for every Mayo supporter and one that will surely live long in the memory as the last time Mayo played New York, fans lined Times Square for a rendition of 'The Green and Red of Mayo' and reunited with family and friends long exiled in the Big Apple.

The trip of a lifetime will set you back, however. Flights departing Dublin with Aer Lingus on the Friday, returning on the Monday, will cost a cool €700 return, with accommodation for the three nights for two people in the region of €500 to €800.

That’s before you purchase a ticket and factor in food and drinks.

The previous encounter in 2019 saw Mayo overcome the exiles by a score line of 1-21 to 0-4.

Of the players that started in that fixture, only Paddy Durcan, James McCormack, Aidan O’Shea, Darren Coen and James Carr were involved in McStay’s panel last season.
