Tributes to Mayo man Frank Griffin whose death has occurred

THE death has occurred of Frank Griffin, 7 De La Salle, Hopkins Road, Castlebar, and formerly of Kiltimagh.

He was much-loved son of John and Mary (née Moran), Orlagh Grove, Castlebar, and brother of Sean, Paul and Sinead.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Louise and Avril, nephews Eoin and Callum, nieces Julie and Cara, aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.

Sympathy is tendered to the bereaved on their loss.

A tribute to the deceased on social media described him as "immensely intelligent and talented."

Another tribute said Frank was "always a gentleman."

Kiltimagh GAA Club, in a tribute on social media, recalled that Frank was without doubt one of the finest underage footballers Kiltimagh GAA ever had.

The tribute recalled: “Frank had it all when it came to football - strength, speed, skill and determination - and represented Mayo at Under 16 and minor levels.

“Frank scored 1-1 in a Connacht Minor final against Galway in 1995 and in the same year won a Connacht Minor League medal.

“Frank was part of the Kiltimagh Minor team that won the 1994 East Mayo Championship.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

His remains will be reposing at Thomas Street Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6.30 to 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass is on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, followed by removal to Shannon Crematorium.
