Aindrias de Staic to thrill Mayo audience with storytelling wonder

THE Linenhall Arts Centre venue in Castlebar has a thoroughly absorbing array of events to enjoy over the coming week, including an evening of infectiously witty storytelling.

In the spotlight on Friday, October 20, is one of Mayo’s finest, Aindrias de Staic, who returns to the Linenhall with his eclectic tales and electric energy.

Delivered in his signature fast paced style, By the Light of the Silvery Moon is a new approach to the ancient Irish art form of storytelling. Inspired by his work in folklore, nature and the traditional arts, Aindrias brings audiences on journeys through bumpy roads and hidden boreens, through scary scenes and magical places, beyond the waves meeting blasts of Wild Atlantic wit.

“Castlebar is always like a homecoming gig for me, so many of the stories are inspired by my Mayo upbringing and we always have a special night at the Linenhall. Last time we did Man from Moogaga, the craic was uproarious,” enthused the Shrule native.

Joining de Staic on the night are musician Aisling Lyons and percussionist Brian Fleming in an exciting new collaboration, creating an alternative entertainment experience, combining the spoken words of stories with a live soundtrack accompaniment created on stage.
