Proposal to install underground storage facility at rural Mayo site

A company is applying to Mayo County Council for planning permission to install a 40-foot metal shipping container underground at a location in Rathoma, Killala, with 3.2 metre high earth moulding to all sides.

Rocket Pyrotechnics Limited said the facility is for the safe and secure storage of pyrotechnics (class 1 hazardous goods).

The project will include a four square metre timber shed for packing and unpacking of pyrotechnics, the erection of green mesh security fencing, the erection of stock proof fencing to the site perimeter and ancillary sites works.
