Mayo actress Ellie McHale-Roe stars in new RTÉ drama 'The Cousin'

Swinford native Ellie McHale-Roe is set to take centre stage as the lead female character, Michelle, in the new Irish drama 'The Cousin'.

With an exciting narrative that promises to captivate audiences, the show is one of three new twenty-five-minute dramas as part of Storyland 2023 by RTE and Screen Ireland.

Written and directed by Stevie Russell, produced by Mike Donelly at MDV and starring Adam Lunnon-Collery, Fionn Ó Loingsigh and Ellie McHale-Roe, The Cousin airs on Thursday, October 26, at 10.30 p.m. on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player, with the trailer being advertised on RTÉ2 tonight (Thursday)

The drama centers around Dan, a young, aspiring artist who gains acceptance into a prestigious art college with his project, 'The Saints of Fairfield.'

This art installation incorporates projection, mapping and archival photography, showcasing portraits of individuals from his community who have passed away due to various circumstances.

Dan's journey takes an unexpected turn when his success opens up a chance to break away from his predetermined life path. However, a crucial step in this journey involves seeking his cousin's blessing, a task that might prove to be challenging.

Ellie McHale-Roe portrays the character of Michelle, Dan's ex-girlfriend and co-parent to their daughter, adding a layer of complexity and depth to the unfolding drama.
