Head of housing appointment for Mayo queried

ELECTED representatives have queried the appointment of a new head of housing for Mayo County Council.

The position has been vacant since June and councillors are anxious that the key post be filled, especially in light of the ongoing housing crisis in the county.

Chief executive Kevin Kelly, at the authority's monthly meeting, said the position is to be filled by the Public Appointment Service.

The council made that request immediately on it becoming vacant.

He understood it is in the process, there is a panel in place, but they don't have a nomination for it yet.

The HR unit is following it up on a regular basis.
