As Mayo GAA championships conclude, AIB looks ahead to another year of 'The Toughest'

With county champions being crowned in Mayo and across the country, focus is starting to shift towards the provincial championships.

Over the coming weeks and months, clubs will battle it out to claim their provincial crowns in 'The Toughest' (#TheToughest) championships of them all.

The AIB All-Ireland Club Championships feature some of the toughest players from clubs across Ireland who take to the field year after year to represent their clubs and communities with such pride. AIB is proud to once more be celebrating these players and the teams behind them, from coaches to volunteers, referees and fans, who play such a vital role in sustaining our national games.

Speaking at today’s launch, AIB chief executive officer, Colin Hunt, said: “Gaelic games are an intrinsic part of communities throughout Ireland and at AIB, we are proud of our partnership with the GAA and Camogie Association.

“This is our 33rd year sponsoring the GAA All-Ireland Club Championships and our 11th year sponsoring the Camogie All-Ireland Club Championships. We are delighted to celebrate the players, management, volunteers and supporters that make the club championships so special. Their commitment to their clubs is a shining example to all that through dedication and perseverance great things can be achieved.”

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Larry McCarthy, added: “We are looking forward to another action-packed AIB GAA All-Ireland Club Championship season. Clubs are at the heart of our association and communities, and achieving success with your club creates life-long memories. From players to supporters, officials to volunteers, we know that the club championships, at all levels, are truly special, and we are delighted to have AIB’s continued support.”

Also speaking at the launch, Uachtarán an Cumann Camógaíochta, Hilda Breslin, commented: “We are looking forward to another season of thrilling camogie club action once more this year, working hand-in-hand with AIB to showcase the camogie club players and highlighting how special the championships are.

“We encourage you to show your support for the clubs with colour and passion at every game as we head towards the finals in December in Croke Park. We wish all the clubs participating the very best for the remainder of the season as they strive for All-Ireland glory.”

Tooreen were the standard-bearers for Mayo last year, winning the Connacht intermediate hurling title and going on to contest the All-Ireland final, in which they were narrowly defeated by Limerick's Monaleen.
