Water supply restored following mains burst in Achill
UISCE Éireann customers in Achill can expect to have a normal water supply restored later this afternoon following a major burst on the island.
Once the burst was identified, water service were dispatched and worked for hours trying to repair the issue.
Every measure was taken to reduce the impact to homes and businesses in Polranny, Belanaskill, Ashlean and surrounding areas and restore water supply as quickly as possible.
Repair works are now complete and the system is refilling.
Uisce Éireann’s Ronan McDonnell thanked customers for their patience while repair works were underway.
He said: “We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are for local communities and would like to thank all impacted customers for their patience while crews worked on repairs.
“The system is recharging, and we are tankering water to the reservoir to speed up the process. I expect all customers will have their water supply fully restored this afternoon.”
