Mayo champions reach Connacht LGFA senior final following victory in Sligo

Mayo champions Knockmore are through to the Connacht LGFA senior club final following victory in their last four game this afternoon.

Knockmore ran out 0-16 to 0-6 winners over Sligo champions St. Nathy's in Bunnanadden, a strong second-half display sealing a fairly comfortable win in the end.

It was much closer during the first half, with the Mayo champions enjoying a narrow lead (0-6 to 0-4) at the break.

The reward for Knockmore is a final against reigning Connacht and All-Ireland champions, Kilkerrin-Clonberne.

The Galway girls proved far too strong for Leitrim's Glencar-Manorhamilton in the other semi-final today, running out 1-28 to 1-4 winners.

Two years ago, after winning their first senior county title, Knockmore were well beaten by Kilkerrin-Clonberne in the Connacht quarterfinal. They will no doubt be hoping to make up for that disappointing defeat when they meet the same opposition in this year's Connacht final in a few weeks' time.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, MacHale Rovers' Connacht intermediate championship campaign ended as soon as it began at the semi-final stage when they lost to Leitrim's Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins, but Claremorris impressively overcame Sligo's CT Gaels in their junior provincial last four game.
