John Joe Patrick Finn who has paternal links to Ballyhaunis in east Mayo makes a rare start for Madrid-based La Liga side Getafe this evening.

Getafe are in action in the first round of the Copa del Rey, Spain’s equivalent of the FA Cup.

Jose Bordalas’s side take on Tardienta, a lower league Spanish side in the Catalonia region of Spain.

Finn became Getafe’s youngest ever player when he made a substitute appearance in 2020 when he was aged 17, but a change of management saw the young midfielder drop to the B team in recent seasons.

Finn is named in a starting line-up alongside former Barcelona player Carles Alena and Manchester United's Mason Greenwood.

Bordalas, the manager who gave Finn his debut, has returned as Los Azulones manager this season. Notably, Mason Greenwood of Manchester United also lines out for Getafe alongside the Ballyhaunis linked midfielder.
