Megan's beautifully animated short film wins Westival competition
A young Mayo woman's stunning animation has won top prize in the Western Front Studios/Westival short film competition.
Megan Mulroe, aged 19, a native of Tourmakeady, had her animation shown on the big screen as part of the Westival, Westport music and arts festival, celebrations.
Megan studied art at Mayo College of Further Education last year and as a part of her course work she made a short animation depicting the love between a pet cat called Salem and his owner Anne, an elderly lady.
Judges described her work as having 'packed an emotional punch' and beautifully animated.
The competition attracted a large entry nationwide and Megan was one of only six finalists to have their movies screened in the W Cinema in Westport.
Megan is daughter of Dee Mulroy, a native of Ballinrobe, and Sean Mulroe, Tourmakeady.
