Fencing at Mayo lake footbridge to be replaced

THE fencing at the footbridge at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar will be replaced in the next number of weeks.

The welcome news has been confirmed to Councillor Ger Deere.

Said Councillor Deere: “The condition of the fencing had become a health and safety issue and had been highlighted by myself and other councillors.”

He added: “I also hope that repairs to some of the fencing along the greenway to Turlough will also be carried out as I had requested at the September meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District.”

His colleague Councillor Donna Sheridan had tabled a motion on the footbridge fencing for next Wednesday's municipal meeting, seeking a report on the repair works and a timeframe for them to be completed.
