Passing of esteemed member of Mayo motor trade Liam McDonnell

The death has taken place of Liam McDonnell, Hollyhill, Castlebar, and late of Ross, Castlebar.

The news has evoked a sense of great sorrow and loss in the community.

A member of a much-loved and respected family, the deceased was involved in the motor trade for a long number of years.

An accomplished mechanic, he started out at the former Josie Bourke's Garage at Ellison Street, Castlebar, and later set up his own business at Hollyhill where he had a loyal customer base.

Many tributes have been paid to him on social media where he was described as a real gentleman.

He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Eileen, sons Ken, Ronan and Derek, daughter Stephanie Greene (Claremorris), daughters-in-law Aisling, Cathy and Maria, son-in-law Kevin, brother Stephen McDonnell, sister Bridie Lynch (Ballyvary), grandchildren, Saoirse, Ailbhe, Isabelle, Katie, Liam, Sean, Niall, Lottie and Esme, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Liam was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Bridget and brothers Pat and Martin.

Liam will repose at his sons Ken’s residence (Sarnaught, Castlebar, F23 XN96) on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Removal on Sunday at 10.45 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane, followed by burial in Ballyheane Cemetery.
